Let's take a step back

"I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that."
~Martin Luther King, Jr.

I realize that the killing of Osama bin Laden represents closure for many people and the successful completion of a difficult Special Ops mission, but his death will not be the end of Al Qaeda or terrorism. The celebration in front of the White House was a disgusting spectacle, mostly by local college students, whose lives will likely be no different now than before. As quoted above:

hate cannot drive out hate

  1. Hi Julie! So I found your blog eons ago, I subscribed but you hadn't post anything. Just a quick note... apparently, and according to the Washington post, the quote is inaccurate:

However, I do agree that hate just brings more hate.
